About Me
Hi, I'm Melissa! I'm a Certified Transformational Nutrition Coach (CTNC), wellness educator (MEd.) and yoga practitioner who specializes in holistic health and wellness. I care about transformative nutrition and wellness because of my own journey toward health and wellbeing. Like many, my process toward wellness and living a healthful life has been anything but straightforward.
After a series of debilitating relationships, a hectic career designing and delivering trainings in various sectors, and a lifetime of very little nutritional substance for my body, mind, and spirit, I crashed and burned, hard! From this place, I began the process of creating a full, healthy, dynamic life for myself. And it's amazing! I've never looked back. My rock bottom (or rather a series of rock-bottoms) became (and continues to be) the best thing that ever happened to me because of the ways it propelled me toward a better state of sustainable wellbeing.
Through my own experiences with nutritional, yogic, and Ayurvedic self-care, I've experienced optimal health and wellness that includes increased energy and focus, better stress management and emotional regulation, as well as physical and social wellbeing. The more I went down this personal path of wellness, the more I became committed to not only living it myself, but also sharing it with others.
Why Do I Coach?
I’m passionate about and committed to helping people set and reach their own unique health and wellness goals, where health means a state of complete physical, mental, and spiritual well-being and includes a sense of purpose, passion, and success as a central theme rather than a bi-product.
I've seen far too many people, (myself included), put their health and wellness to the side while they tended to what seemed like more important priorities and daily tasks, only to wake up to find a lifestyle that did not support their optimal living. I genuinely want to support people who make the often radical and uncertain journey toward their own health and wellness.
I care about bringing the most up to date information and evidence about health and wellness to people, and making this information relevant and impactful to individuals with various health goals, body types, and lifestyles. My practices blend wisdom and insights from modern and ancient health and wellness methods in a way that supports clients through meaningful transformations toward becoming their best selves.
My Health & Coaching Philosophy
I use an evidence-informed model of nutritional health that focuses on the relationship of the body, mind, and spirit. This interdisciplinary nutrition model asks us to look at what we’re hungry for physically, mentally, and spiritually, and blends together the research and practice of science, psychology, and spirituality.
As a yoga practitioner, I’m grateful and privileged to be able to share the practices of yoga with groups and individuals. Yoga is the gift that keeps on giving in that it supports us gaining ever-increasing awareness of and control over our chattering minds. By stilling and quieting our minds, we can find more space to live our peace and joy.
By blending aspects of modern western health sciences, ancient yogic healing and self-care systems, and powerful coaching techniques, my practice addresses individuals’ unique health goals in meaningful and impactful ways.
